When Stars Align (and Your "Authentic Self" Gets Lost in Transit)

The quest for authenticity often begins with the question: "How do our daily choices reflect our deepest values?". When people are in search of creating a life of quality and satisfaction, they tend to find more questions than answers to challenge their beliefs. In this week’s case, we have a powerful astrological lineup that creates the perfect container for themes around authenticity, intuition, re-evaluation, and growth.

  • June 9 -Pallas Retrograde

    • Pallas is an asteroid in astrology that represents our independent spirit, creative intelligence, and how we utilize knowledge to achieve our goals. So when it is in retrograde, it suggests we are entering a period where we might be re-evaluating our approach to using our knowledge and talents, or re-examining our ideas and beliefs

  • June 9 -Jupiter enters Cancer

    • Jupiter moving into Cancer emphasizes emotional growth, nurturing relationships, and the expansion of our emotional intelligence. Keep in mind that Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer. This transit brings focus to home, family, and emotional security while encouraging intuitive development.

  • June 11- Full Moon in Sagittarius

    • The Full Moon in Sagittarius brings a critical time for revelation, especially around our beliefs, philosophies, and quest for truth. This lunar event encourages us to examine what we've learned and how we can apply our wisdom in practical ways.

This reflection of themes deepened when I encountered the statement: "Authenticity is a lie." Initially jarring, this concept challenged my traditional understanding of authenticity because I always thought authenticity meant the highest form of honesty and realness. It opened a door to seeing authenticity as fluid and evolutionary rather than fixed and absolute. As constantly evolving beings, it is important to recognize that there isn't a single "authentic self" waiting to be discovered.

What feels “authentic” naturally shifts based on our context, relationships, and personal growth journey. The societal pressure to be authentic often results in performative behavior (aka where we find ourselves trying too hard to prove how "real" we are). True growth/ expansion happens when we embrace the fact that we contain multitudes, rather than attempting to pin down one "true" version of ourselves. This understanding has been liberating, especially for my relationship with routines. As a recovering perfectionist, sometimes we get caught up in trying to follow specific things because there is this deep underlying fear that we would go through life never fully reaching where we are supposed to be.

I began to question: What if our highest potential lies in our ability to flow between structure and spontaneity? What if authenticity means having the courage to adjust our routines when they no longer serve our evolution?

Through this questioning, I realized consistency doesn't necessarily equal authenticity. This was a hard truth to acknowledge because in the personal development world, consistency and discipline are the foundations. You hear/see this repeat countlessly, the more you engage with personal growth content. However, when you think deeper about it, consistency allows us to pursue an aspect of our identity, and an aspect isn’t ALL of us. If identity is truly fluid, that means even what is consistent for an identity has a season.

Mindset shift of the week

So, For Our Mindset Shift for the week, remember these words:

Authenticity isn't about finding a fixed "true self"; it's about embracing our multifaceted natur

You can save this as a reminder

When we release the pressure to maintain a single, consistent version of ourselves, we open up to greater possibilities for growth and authentic expression without guilt or self-judgment. This mindset allows us to adapt more fluidly to life's changes while honoring all aspects of who we are, leading to more genuine relationships with ourselves and others.

Mondays are for getting our minds right for the week, so here is other recent content:

While we initially explored the distinction between comfort and safety in personal development, this expansion focuses on the physiological aspects of internal regulation and hormone health. Understanding and regulating our nervous system is fundamental to becoming not only a safe harbor for ourselves but also for others, as our capacity to create external safety begins with our internal state of regulation.

It is so interesting how the themes of the week are playing out because with it being almost officially summer (which is insane when you realize since it is 2025; we are half way through the year that marks half a decade!), this week is serving as a week to evaluate this year so far and set our intentions for the remaining half of the year. I’ll get more into details about how, since May 30th, I’ve been leaning into this energy.

Last Week's Milestones: Career Shift, Health Focus & Planning

Started a new role in my desired industry

If you've been following the podcast, you know I've been dropping hints about a new chapter in my life. My journey with fashion has been a constant thread since childhood, naturally expanding into beauty and wellness as I grew. These industries always called to me, but finding my place within them? That was the real puzzle.

The path hasn't been linear: I've explored everything from wanting to be a fashion designer to a fashion journalist to a beauty copywriter to a beauty marketer to not even being sure if I chose the right path for myself. Each time I explored a role, it taught me something valuable about myself and the industry. But there were moments when these dreams felt impossibly distant. The unstructured nature of these fields means there's no clear roadmap to follow, which can feel both liberating and terrifying.

After navigating what I can only describe as my most significant identity crisis last year, I shifted my focus. Instead of chasing specific job titles, I started exploring the skills that truly light me up. This year became about intentional growth and alignment. While finding the right fit hasn't been easy, I know I'm on the right path because, for the first time, my work feels less like checking boxes and more like following genuine curiosity. The desire to learn and improve comes naturally, and that's how I know I'm finally heading in the right direction.

Starting a new health routine

In 2025, health has taken center stage in my priorities, alongside career and intellectual growth. I've recognized the need to diversify my wellness approach beyond the basics as summer approached. Recently, I've been rebuilding my daily step routine (though this past week, I had to scale back to adjust to the new changes). A key adaptation has been the incorporation of natural light exposure due to its connection to sleep quality and hormonal balance.

Working remotely has its perks, but it can sometimes keep us too contained indoors. To counter this, I'm implementing a gentle transition: starting with three days a week of intentional outdoor time. It's as simple as sitting in the sunlight before working. As the weather continues to warm up, I plan to evolve this practice into daily walks, gradually expanding my comfort zone while honoring my body's need for natural rhythms.

Reviewed the first half of 2025

After reviewing the first half of 2025, I've come to a significant realization about my planning approach. While the 12-week year system served me well previously, I'm finding that my current season of life and evolving goals require a different framework. This shift isn't about abandoning structure entirely, but rather about creating a system that better aligns with my present journey and allows for more adaptability.

Discovering new ways to add more play to my daily routine

I've started trying out two new fun ways to add more play into my daily life. I don't want to share too much about them yet because I really want to test them out properly first. Let me give them some time to see if they actually work for me. So far, things are looking good, but you know how it is; sometimes things that seem great at first don't always stick. I'll break it all down for you in my June review (the good stuff, the not-so-good stuff, and any surprises I find along the way).

Healing my relationship with slowness

Last week brought an interesting insight after starting my new role. Despite genuinely enjoying the work, I noticed an underlying pressure I was putting on myself to match some imagined speed of productivity. This wasn't coming from external feedback; it was entirely self-imposed. The feeling reminded me of past experiences where I internalized this notion that faster always equals better, regardless of the impact on quality.

It’s insane how deeply ingrained this rush-culture mindset can become. In my previous role, I carried constant guilt about my pace, even when I was giving my absolute best. It's a reflection of how corporate America often prioritizes speed over depth, creating this perpetual sense of urgency that doesn't always serve our best work.

While I'm committed to developing efficient workflows (and acknowledge that my current slower pace is natural with any new beginning), I'm equally committed to releasing the guilt around my timing. This isn't just about work either - it's a broader life lesson about resisting the persistent feeling of falling behind, and instead honoring growth and adaptation.

Adjusting to newness and making space for change

Building upon my earlier reflections, I'm navigating through multiple transitions simultaneously. With new roles, routines, and evolving goals shaping my journey, I'm intentionally creating space to adapt to this emerging normal. Summer brings its own unique sense of change. From being alone to having someone around frequently, from mostly quiet times to the outside being lively, and of course, the heat (which, while I deeply appreciate the sun's presence, presents its own challenges in maintaining comfort without constantly relying on air conditioning).

These seasonal transitions naturally impact my content creation process, specifically my podcast production workflow. While adjusting to these changes requires patience and flexibility, I'm proactively laying the groundwork for success before the major shifts anticipated at June's end.

Next steps

  • Create a "pause practice" - set specific times during work hours to step back and assess if rushing is necessary

  • Establish a morning routine that prioritizes setting a calm, intentional pace for the day

  • Design a flexible schedule that accounts for both focused work time and adaptation periods

  • Start a "New Normal" journal to track observations about changing routines and seasonal transitions

  • Set up designated quiet hours for podcast production to maintain consistency amid summer changes

  • Schedule weekly reflection sessions to evaluate what's working and what needs adjustment

  • Work on activities for the Sagittarius Full Moon

  • Getting more organized through template creation

Content Corner: Current Favorite Fitness YouTuber

Dance workout videos list on a decorative page with text "Content I've been loving." Includes videos by Kaji Pm on Latin, TikTok, and Hip Hop.
My latest addition to my workout routines #homeworkout #fitnessathome #YouTube

I've been really enjoying Kaji PM's YouTube channel for workouts lately, especially her dance-focused content. Dance workouts feel perfect for summer - they're energizing, fun, and practical (because who doesn't want to learn new moves for summer parties and gatherings?). Her hip-focused routines have been particularly meaningful to me on a personal level.

There's something deeply nostalgic and identity-affirming about moving to music that reminds me of my roots. Growing up in an era of reggaeton and soca, these dance movements feel like reclaiming a part of myself that I had inadvertently suppressed during college. When your body goes through significant changes, it's easy to start moving more rigidly, making yourself smaller. These dance workouts are helping me break free from that pattern.

I'm a strong advocate for home workouts, and I believe we need more content creators who promote diverse forms of movement rather than just following trending workout styles. Movement should be about what feels authentic to you, not what's currently popular on social media. Dance workouts at home provide a safe space to reconnect with your body and express yourself freely.

Thought Tank

These prompts invite us to question our assumptions about what it means to be authentic and how we can create space for both consistency and change in our lives. Save these reflections for your next journaling session! ✨ #JournalingPrompts #PersonalDevelopment #Growth #SelfReflection

These reflections explore the delicate balance between maintaining authentic self-expression while embracing personal growth and change. The questions challenge us to examine our relationship with authenticity, questioning whether our current definition might be too rigid or influenced by external expectations. They invite us to consider authenticity not as a fixed state but as a fluid journey that allows for evolution, imperfection, and the natural ebb and flow between structure and spontaneity in our lives.
