2/4 of 2019- June 2019 life update

Updated: Jun 10, 2020

Hey guys!

It's Lay.

So for today’s blog I was originally going to list out the biggest life lessons I learned from High School but changed my mind and wanted to wait until I officially graduated to talk about that. I know I did a Mini update in May but a lot has changed since then and I wanted to do a full update like I did in March. We are officially halfway through 2019 and my focus has completely shifted within my journey. As you guys know entering 2019, I was struggling with a lot of anxiety and depression over events that happened in my life. I talked about it in my March life update the most but since then a lot has changed. Below is a list of the major things I want :

1- College Process and Senior things

2- Lifestyle Changes

3- Summer Plans

4-Content and Collabs

College Process and Senior things

If you follow my Instagram and I believed I mentioned it in previous blogs as well, I committed to the Fashion Institute of Technology. On May 15th, I made my college appointment with my advisor and found out which classes I need to take and how many credits I need to take per semester. Unlike other schools, our freshman year we take courses pertaining to our major instead of general courses. So this year I will take 4 classes related to my major and 2 more general courses that are still mandatory. My courses are Digital Layout 1, Marketing for Integrated Marketing Communications, Multimedia Computer for Advertising Communications, Fashion Business Practices, Statistics Analysis and Macroeconomic. Statistics is a mandatory class for me and macroeconomics I chose since it was the best class that fit into my schedule, I had background knowledge on it since I took economics this year and it is mandatory so I would have to take it regardless. I am not taking an English class my first semester but I'm hoping for my credits from 11th grade to transfer over so I can take Journalism in the Spring Semester. Also with the way I arranged my schedule I'm only going 3 times per week so hopefully I will still have time for blogging. I also hope to get a part time job after I turn 18 because I want to work in a clothing store but most of them require you to be 18. So that's all for the college part until I update in September.

Before I go on to the section I want to talk about a few things coming up for me since it might affect my writing schedule but I'll try to stay on top of things . So Next week I have senior activities like color wars, senior picnic etc. and then the following week, June 17th is my last day of classes, June 18th is my prom, June 20th is my graduation and June 26 is my official last day but for seniors they just have a set time to pick up their diplomas.

Major lifestyle

This one is pretty obvious if you follow my posts, stories etc. Recently I started going to the gym because at planet fitness they have a summer challenge where teens 15-18 can go the gym for free up until September 1. So if you're in the US and are those ages, you should sign up. If you are under the age of 18 you will need a parent to sign up but if you are 18 you can do it by yourself. No matter what age bring an ID to show proof of age.

I just been eating healthy and exercising 4-5 time per week. I still look after my mental health but it's not my focus for the next few months. In another blog I want to talk about the benefits of my life change so for now I'm just going to talk about my workout routine and list my updated June playlist that I listen to when I work out and basically have on repeat 24/7.

My fitness routine for June

I didn't finish it for arms/chest day or booty day but I've mostly testing out machines. I've been doing a lot of cardio but once I slim down I want to practice strength building exercises and then move on to weight training.

MONDAY AND THURSDAYS - Machines

Stretching -5 minutes

Walking on Treadmill - 35 minutes (30 mins/ 5 minutes cool down)

Cycling- 20 minutes

Hip Abductor- 5 sets, 20 reps, 30 seconds rest in between

Rest (Stretching)- 5 minutes

Elliptical- 35 minutes Torso rotation- 3 sets, 15 reps, 30 seconds rest

Walking on Treadmill - 35 minutes (30 mins/ 5 minutes cool down)

TUESDAY- Core

Stretch- 5 minutes

Sit ups- 3 sets, 20 reps, 60 seconds rest

Plank- 2 sets , hold for 30 seconds, rest for 30 seconds

Crunches (regular)- 2 sets, 30 seconds (as much as possible), 30 seconds rest

Side planks- 4 set (2 on both sides), hold for 30 seconds, rest for 30 seconds

Russian twists- 3 sets, 20 reps

Cycling - 20 minutes

Walking on Treadmill - 35 minutes (30 mins/ 5 minutes cool down)

I'm still doing research for booty, arms and chest and hopefully by next week I would have a full workout routine.

Summer plans

I don't have much planned for the summer, I'm most likely just going to work, shop and prepare for college, hopefully visit my friend for her graduation party, work out and work on content and collaborations (I'll talk about this more in the next sections). I also have been considering a youtube channel but it depends on my college schedule and I want to start it after I get a part time job when I turn 18.

Content

So like I mentioned before I want to set up more collaborations in the summer and I've been looking for other bloggers to work with. I asked on twitter but if you want to collaborate with me whether you are a blogger or a brand, please message me at simplylayxx@gmail.com . With school coming to end I have so much more time and energy to put into my content.

I already changed my theme a bit on instagram to be more relaxed and bright. I want to continue to use my own picture to edit so I'm hoping to have time for random photoshoots and get cute outfits for the summer.

As for the theme of the content of my blog, I want to focus on confidence, relieving stress and bettering your health considering in my everyday life my biggest goal is to become the person that makes me happiest and to feel comfortable in my own skin. I have more goals which I'm going to talk about next.

Mood and Goals

My mood lately has been very productive. A lot of bad and emotional stuff has happened but I have been staying positive by putting all that negative energy and turning it into motivation to fuel me to work out, put my all into blogging and just keep pushing forward regardless of what life has to throw at me. Yes I did have my moments of sadness but unlike before I was able to pick myself up quickly and I have my support team to thank for that.

Here's a list of a few of my goals for summer 2019:

  • Have more photoshoots

  • Workout more

  • Eat better to maintain a healthy lifestyle

  • Work on a project I've been neglecting

  • Become more educated on an issue

  • Create more memories with my chosen family

  • Become more serious about building a business

  • Make more connections

  • Take care of my hair

  • Grow my engagement on social media

  • Make more friends (internet and real life)

  • Just grow as a person

Well that's all for today's blog. I really hope you enjoyed and continue to follow me on my journey. Share this with your friends and family and don't forget to check out previous post. If you want to stay updated, don't forget to subscribe. Remember you are amazing and you don't need to prove your worth to anyone.

Until next time,

xoxo Lay 💋
